GUYS!! According to that GIANT WHITE BOX THERE, I'm at goal. The goal I set for m'self back in January-!!
[::does a little dance that I copped from Cherie Priest::]
[::shakes it::]
[::shakes it::]
[::dances a lil more::]
[::pops and locks it once for good measure::]
Can you tell I'm STOKED???
yeah.
So, even though I'm not actually done with this last third of the book, and even though I'm gonna hafta recalibrate that word count goal, I'm feeling pretty encouraged. So encouraged, in fact, that I thought I'd spread it around a little!
If anyone out there could use a little encouragement, here's a fantastic little mantra I picked up from Chris Guillebeau's The Art of Non-Conformity blog:
A 4-Step Encouragement Mantra for the Journey
- I can do it.
- I could always have a regular life somewhere.
- But I’ve chosen a different path.
- And I won’t give up.

And onwards you fly to the next phase of your evil plan! ; j
Thanks, girl!! FEELIN it today :D
Shake it, honey! That's awesome that you've surpassed your goal. Way to go.
I just started a new project, so I'm about to set some goals for myself. Staying on the path we've chosen IS tough, but I won't give up. And I bet you won't either.
Congratulations!
Congrats! That's great!!! YAY!!!!
Could it be the magic powers of the backlit keyboard, mayhap?
You kick SO much ass!
Congrats! And yeah...that is a fab mantra.
Congrats, Zoe!! That is awesome! And I love your 4-step encouragement mantra. Definitely what I need to repeat over and over this week!
:) Ricki
Congrats on reaching your goal! I'm reading the Bone Shaker right now by Cherie Priest and I love it so far.
Bravo, Zoe. Not everyone can endure and reach their goal. Remember : the Sistine Chapel was done one brushstroke at a time.
How are you finding THE PASSAGE? I read 22% of it and found it had more backstory than story. But that's just me.
May your book hit the bestseller lists, Roland
Congratulations on getting to 85,000!
Woo-hoo! Nice job! :D
I'm gonna shake it wit' ya, cuz I'm totally getting into this new WIP--it's been so long (eight months) since a new idea FINALLY formed to a cohesive plot, that I'm trembling with excitement!!!! :D
Yay, congrats! That's so awesome!
You did it! Time to celebrate.
Hey, Tere! Thanks for popping in, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you!
Jessica - thanks!! I LOVE me some momentum :D
Lisa - Nope, this mojo's all ME. (Keyboard won't get here for a coupla weeks, pbt.)
Thanks, Christine. I know, right? I loved that mantra; so simple but so...yeah.
Hi, Ricki! Thanks for stopping in! Use that mantra all you want, luv; it's a good one!
Aubrie! Thanks for popping by - I haven't gotten into Boneshaker yet, though I tried the first few chapters...I think maybe I'm not such a steampunk kinda gal. But I do love Cherie Priest :D
Roland. Always makes me smile to see your comments :D I got halfway thru THE PASSAGE and hit a freakin WALL. I'm NOT feeling the abrupt change of tone OR pacing. I'm making myself finish it, but...blah. What a let down. I hope the last bit picks up.
Thanks, Alleged! I'm so stoked!
Laura! *bumps hips together* Woot! Don't you LOVE it when inspiration strikes. Best feeling in the world :D
Thanks, Sandy! It feels pretty dang awesome. Hope to nail the ending in the next week or so!!!
Alex! I'm not quite celebrating, but I am dancin' :D Celebrating comes when I write "The End." Woot!
Thanks so much, guys!
Bravo! Good for you...you stuck in there and made it to your goal...that puts you ahead of 90% of the other writers out there. Tenacity...great job.
Congratulations, Zoe, on making your goal! And I just LOVE your mantra. It's so appropriate for those of us trying to make it in this tough writing world. I think I'm going to pin that up on my bulletin board because I often need to be reminded. Thank you!
Hiya, Raquel! Thanks for popping in and offering your own words of encouragement. Nice!
Hey, Lisa! Glad you liked the mantra - I found it to be dead-on, man. Dead on. Pin that sucker up!!
That's freakin' AWESOME! Happy dancin' with you (I can do that cuz there's no one in the room with me to point and laugh)
Congrats on getting to 85,000! Well done!
That's awesome, Zoe, way to go!! Doing a happy dance for ya!
~Olivia
Way to go!!! Yes! Congrats on finishing your goal! =D
CONGRATS - that is awesome. That is a lot of writing. I don't have the discipline to write so much on a single topic but I write about 25000 words per month on my blog. Any writing is good - just a little every day and as you have proven, old goals melt away into new ones in no time!! W.C.C.
